The nearest walking trail is the loop trail through Greenough Park. There are both paved trails and a footpath through the woods. This is great spring bird watching habitat along the riparian corridor. Drive north on Rattlesnake drive to the trailhead for the Rattlesnake National Wilderness Area, about four miles upstream from here.

The Rattlesnake neighborhood is beautiful and peaceful setting in the mountains and river corridors and trail systems. Mountain Line bus system with a downtown transfer station can be picked up near the corner just down the alley towards town. The University of Montana is just across the walking bridge over the river – just a short walk from here.
We have a solar-assisted on-demand gas-fired hot water heater. The evacuated tubes on the dormer roof collect heat from the sun, heat the glycol solution which transfers heat to the domestic water in the tank upstairs before passing through the Rinnai water heater. All water for the house is filtered through charcoal and then softened for all uses with a potassium salt – except the cold-water faucet at the kitchen sink which is filtered but not softened. This water is excellent for ice cubes, drinks and coffee.
Abundant fresh organic produce, meats, fish and bread, and bountiful deli counter are found year-round at the Good Food Store. They also provide many gluten-free foods. Along the way you’ll discover the Missoula Angler shop.
The southern boundary of the Rattlesnake National Recreation Area and Wilderness (RNRAW) is just four miles north of Missoula, Montana. The National Recreation Area (NRA) lies south and adjacent to the wilderness and receives heavy human use, but primarily in the South Zone, within about three miles of the main trailhead. Far fewer people venture into The Rattlesnake Wilderness which is in the more remote northern portion of the RNRAW. A road that is closed to public motorized use and that is used as a trail leaves the main trail head and goes into the National Recreation Area along Rattlesnake Creek along a cherry stem NRA corridor to within about three miles of a scenic Wilderness cluster of high alpine lakes. Near the NRA entrance at about 3,600 feet, the elevation rises to 8,620 feet on McLeod Peak and a picturesque mountain setting.
Guests who you may invite to join you may not exceed two. We ask that you register them with us prior to your arrival, and the duration of their stay, with our permission. We charge $20 per night for each guest.
We collect a $120.00 cleaning fee. The cleaning fee, and the extra guest fee, will be taxable for the State Lodging tax added to your rental fee. Please call if you have any questions about our requirements.
